Further to the UK’s involvement with the Kyoto Treaty, (a world-wide initiative aimed at improving Energy Efficiency and reducing pollution), we at BlueFlame can help to explain the requirements and pitfalls of selecting your new central heating equipment with regard to the Building Regulations requirements of 2002 and 2005.

The Building Regulations require that new equipment reach certain standards of efficiency to either a “basic minimum” or a “best practice” level.

In addition to the legal requirements there are choices to be made regarding the system type, (Combi or Conventional), make and output size of the boiler, and also the controls required to meet at least the minimum requirements of the regulations.

The Building Regulations are also designed to ensure the Health, Safety and Welfare of people in and around buildings, and to this end every installation of a gas appliance has to be certified as being installed and commissioned by a competent person using an approved commissioning certificate.
